Hi, I'm Tanya!

Do you know what time it is? It’s celebration time! Can you believe it’s been a year since I’ve occupied space on the internet and can now call myself a blogger? ( I know right who can believe it). A lot has happened over the last year, some good and some not so good but I can say I have learned a lot being a part of the blogosphere.
As some of you know when I published my first blog post The Beginning… a year ago, I told you I had this idea for 2 years before I started. I had no clue what I was doing or getting myself into but I was prepared, now here I am a year later.
I had this plan of what I wanted to talk to about in this post, but a conversation I had recently with someone who wants to start blogging changed that idea.
Instead I’m going to talk about what I learned over the past year and give some tips on what you should consider if you plan on starting a blog, vlog, etc.

BE YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF

When I first started my blog I knew I wanted to be a source of motivation and inspiration to others ( still do), but I was also worried about putting myself out there, so that terrified me. I am a very private person and if I am honest, I was also worried about what others would think about me. I had this idea about where I wanted my blog to be within the first 3 months and I soon realized that the race was not for the swift. I quickly learned that being vulnerable and honest about my expereinces, stumbling blocks and lessons would make it much easier and better for others to connect with me. I also learned that I had to be patient with the progress of my blog and it was unhealthy and discouraging to compare myself to others. There are so many people in this world so I knew I would be able to attract my own audience. It is perfectly ok to slay in your own lane, have patience and know that success does not come overnight. What is for you will ALWAYS be for you!

BE CONSISTENT

I know you’ve heard about “consistency is key” and like some of you, I would just say it just because it was a thing to say. Being in school, working and having a blog takes up a lot of time so I had to eventually practice what I was preaching. Basically, I had to do more action and less talking. I realized that the more consistent I got, the more I was able to grow and connect with more people and I was also able to get into a rhythm when it came to upoading my posts. Now, I’m not telling you to upload a new post every day of the week but try your best to be as consistent as you possibly can, even if you post once a week that’s ok, at least you know you would have gotten enough time to post what you want and not rush. Slow and steady wins the race!

WRITE ABOUT WHAT YOU LOVE

I just talked about consistency being Key but another very important thing is creating content that you truly love. When you write about things you’re passionate about it tends to resonate well across all boards and creating content will be easier. Do more of what you love and what makes you happy!

JUST DO IT

Ironically this probably should have been the first thing I mentioned but I placed it last. We tend to tell ourselves we need to do this or that but never do. Like you know, I sat on my idea for 2 WHOLE years before starting. My best friend is the one who told me to just do it. The goal for me at first was to document my life through nursing school but I was also afraid of putting my life out there because I’m so private. My biggest fear to was that no one would read it or everyone would judge me. I finally launched and I haven’t looked back yet. I keep meeting some amazing people, new opportunities are arising and most of all my blog is growing AND I am growing as an individual.
It doesn’t matter what you want to achieve, you won’t be able to until you DO IT. Coming from me it’s easier said than done but look at me now, I DID IT and so can you. You just have to believe in yourself, take a leap of faith, put in the work and you’ll see the reward.
I would like to thank each and everyone of you who has taken the time out to read, like, comment and share my posts thus far. You guys have really helped with boosting my confidence. I have made some great connections and I’m thankful to those who constantly encourage and support me. I have some exciting things in store for AATSL so be sure to stay tuned!

  1. Congrats on one year and thank you for being honest!🎉🎉🎉

Recently I struggled with being consistent whilst writing what I love/care about. Not everything I want to say needs to be said and I won’t say it for the sake of consistency. I recently took a break to remember why I started and how I wanted my blog to make me feel, as a result consistency is no longer a priority.

I’m blabbing on as always but congrats on a year and for recognising how important it is to be authentic!💙

  2. So proud of you tanya keep striving for greatness happy bloggerversary love. loved the post!!

  3. Congrats and thanks for sharing your tips! I definitely struggle with consistency LOL. But writing about what I love always helps. Look forward to watch your journey in year 2!
