So most of you may or may not have heard about a water challenge and no it is not about taking a shower every day kinda challenge lol. This is about actually drinking enough water in a day.
So a little history…..water is one of the most important substances on earth today, and as we all know, we need it to survive. Most importantly we really need water to stay hydrated and the purpose of water is to really help in maintain the fluid balance in our bodies, it helps to remove waste from our bodies, and it helps with digestion and prevents dehydration (which for me leads to migraines).
Lately, as I have gotten older it has been a challenge for me to drink water and stay hydrated and I thought about it and I have no valid reason as to why I have not been drinking any water. I said to myself starting September I would Do Better! So I decided to do this gallon water challenge. Now we know we’re supposed to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily, and my friends I was not consuming half of that in a given week. I knew the benefits and the consequences of drinking and not drinking water but I would always gravitate more towards fruit juices before I even thought about drinking water. I had an experience towards the end of August which further prompted me to begin this challenge.
You never know how important water is until you’re on the verge of passing out from dehydration and your skin wants to act like an ass with a whole ton of break outs. I grew up with my father always telling me and my sister’s that we had really pretty skin and I was not going to let my lack of drinking water and other unhealthy habits mess that up any longer. So I started my 30 day water challenge on the first of September and I must say I’m very happy I did. I’m now 13 days in but so far I feel different. I’ve seen changes in the appearance of my skin, my headaches are minimal if any at all. I feel much better, my mood and attitude are much better and I’m less miserable…you can ask my boyfriend lol and I have a lot more energy. I’ll be honest I am a tickler for flavored water so in order for me to drink the entire gallon, I normally add some fruits in the water which is my own motivation; I would add some lemons, strawberries or peppermint leaves depending on the day and how I feel. I had someone say a gallon of water a day is too much and at first it seemed that way but now drinking water comes natural to me. I have 2 more weeks of this challenge but I know drinking a gallon a day doesn’t stop there, I am going to make this a lifestyle change.
Plus I been drinking my daily gallons and minding my business…hahahahaha.

How the challenge going for you?
It’s going good. I got sick this past weekend and had to be put on bed rest so the last 10 days haven’t been going to well so I’m thinking of extending it to next month as well.
Glad hear it’s going good and sorry hear about you been sick as well. I have been slacking myself in water department. Good idea on extending it.
You should join me on the challenge after a few days it comes as nothing
I’m like you, I would need flavor it up as well. Living with sickle cell I need the water, but at same time get tired of it.
I have a friend who has sickle cell and I see how tired she can get and sometimes the pain. Truly breaks my heart so I can only imagine how you feel. Hang in there hun and keep pushing forward.
Thank you for your kind words. Does she have the same feeling about water as well? It’s no joke but it’s a blessing to be able to post and write about my journey. Going start the challenge next month to see how it goes. Many Blessings 😉
I never asked her about that but I’ll be sure to do that and I will check in on you to see how the challenge is going. Keep posting, I love reading your stories! Keep pushing!
Thank you for your comment. I’m glad to be back to blogging again. Hope you continue to do the same as well. Let me know how that goes when you get time to ask her.
I certainly will hun.
