Hi, I'm Tanya!

By now we all know what’s going on this world unless you’ve been living under a rock. Many of us are now working from home and social distancing as a result of COVID-19. Some of us have more time on our hands where we have taken up new hobbies. I’ve been listening to podcasts for a few years ever since my best friend put me on to an episode of Side Hustle Pro, it’s been years, and I’m now a self-proclaimed podcast junkie.

I remember listening to a podcast on my way to class on the train and would get completely caught up with the episode or topic of the day. I know that by the end of the podcast, my way of thinking would shift. My favorite thing to do is listen to a podcast in my car while commuting to and from school. I’m usually pumped up with inspiration for the day. However, in the interest of following the necessary guidelines and trying to contain this virus, we know we need to be in quarantine. If you’re looking to add something else to your list of things to do while at home, I got you covered.
I listen to a variety of podcasts and for many different reasons. I listen when I want the “tea” about what’s going on in pop culture, when I need motivation, to learn more about finances and side hustles, self-improvement, and to help me with my spiritual journey. So, I’m sharing some of my favorite ones with you. Whether you’re seeking advice or knowledge about how to navigate life, finances, side-hustles, your faith, and more, I’ve got you covered. These podcasts are on all the major podcasts apps, whether you have an iPhone or Andriod you have access to them. So check them out!

Elevation church

I came across the Elevation Church Youtube channel after my best friend recommended it to me. I was looking for a church to watch online since my work schedule at the time did not permit me to attend church. I found myself watching sermon after sermon, and ever since, I’ve been hooked. I was happy when I found out that they started a podcast. What I like about Pastor Steven is that he is relatable and has a more modern-day preaching style.

Jesus and Jollof

This podcast is hosted by Luvvie Ajayi, founder of the blog Awesomely Luvvie, and author of the New York Times Bestseller I’m Judging You. Then, there’s Molly, I mean the talented Yvonne Orji, comedian, and actress of one of my favorite shows HBO’s Insecure. They talk about growing up Nigerian, love, life, and spiritual journeys. If you want to laugh and possibly shed a thug tear from time to time, this is the podcast for you. They are on a bit of a hiatus as Luvvie just got married, and Yvonne is filming the new season of Insecure and is getting ready to go on a comedy tour. So you have time to catch up on season 1 and 2.

Super Soul Conversation

If you ask anyone that knows me, I can guarantee they’ll tell you that I’m the most loyal subscriber to The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). I remember exactly where I was when the channel changed from the Discovery network to OWN on January 1st, 2011. Since then I’ve watched every show. I remember I used to tune in every Sunday at 10 am to OWN to watch Super Soul Sunday to see Oprah talk to some very influential individuals. I remember if I heard something awe-inspiring, I would jot it down. It is transformed into a podcast This podcast is designed to light you up and to guide you through life’s big questions and to bring you a step closer to your best self Be sure to check it out.

Global Caveat

Someone I met on Instagram who’s on the same journey as I recommended it to me, and I’m lowkey obsessed with this podcast. As a public health major, I appreciate it.
Global Caveat is a podcast that explores the vast field of global health. Global health scientists Diana Klatt and Susanna Park discuss topics, such as research and fieldwork, with each other and guests to examine the connection between health and the sciences and how we have to work together for health, humanity, and the earth.

Medical Mysteries

This podcast came highly recommended, and I got hooked from the first episode. This high stake medical procedural follows patients as they suffer from bizarre, often terrifying illnesses. None of which doctors learned about in medical school.

Brown Ambition

This podcast is hosted by Mandi Woodruff and Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche. Mandi Woodruff is the executive editor of MagnifyMoney.com and former personal finance reporter for Yahoo Finance, and Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche is an award-winning financial educator and best-selling author of “The One-Week Budget. I like that finances aren’t the only thing they talk about; they talk about what it is like juggling life, career, and building wealth on your own terms. “

Side Hustle Pro

Deadass

A podcast about LOVE, SEX, MARRIAGE, and everything in between!
I don’t like the idea of calling other people relationship goals because people only show you what they want you to see on social media. For me, my parents are my ultimate relationship goals, BUT Khadeen and Devale Ellis are my relationship goals right now. I can relate to them most times, I love how transparent they are with their life, and no matter how successful they get, they’re humble. The topics they discussed are amazing and are so relatable. New episodes are every Wednesday; I recommend tuning in especially if you’re a millennial.

Woman Evolve

Woman Evolve is hosted by the incomparable Sarah Jakes Roberts.  She shares her take on the week’s top stories in the news and entertainment. I love this podcast because Sarah also gives direction as to how we can handle the many issues happening in life. she always has A WORD in her episodes, you’re in for a treat.

This is a weekly chat about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves. This is hosted by Dr. Joy Harden Bradford who is a licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia.

I listen to a lot more but these are the ones I listen to consistently weekly.
